Woman found shot dead inside Miramar home
MIRAMAR, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are investigating the South Florida home where a woman was found shot to death Saturday morning, a discovery that prompted detectives to interview her husband.
Crime scene tape wrapped around the orange house located off of Miramar Parkway and Southwest 130th Avenue as investigators gathered evidence for several hours. Police said there was a child at home at the time of the incident.
According to investigators, the woman's husband was the one who dialed 911. "We have received a 911 call from the husband, who claimed that his wife was injured," said Miramar Police spokesperson Tania Rues. "When our officers and fire rescue responded to the scene, we came across an adult female who was deceased."
Detectives waited for a warrant for permission to search the premises. "The initial call came across as an injury, and then the [husband] started giving more details, even discussing a gunshot," said Rues.
The police spokesperson added that while the woman's husband is in police custody, they do not consider him a suspect at this time. "He is being interviewed by detectives; there was a child at home, and he was removed from the scene as well," she said.
Police said it is still too early in the investigation to name any suspects.
