Police search for fraudulent utility worker
TAMARAC, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police have issued a warning about a phony utility worker who's been knocking on doors in a South Florida community.
Authorities described the man as wearing a baseball hat with plaid shorts. He allegedly tells homeowners he is there to check the water system.
A woman who spoke to the subject said his behavior was suspicious and declined to let him into her apartment. "He said he'd like to come in to check my water pressure," said Ross Reines. "I said, 'There's no way i'm letting you in this house. He said, 'All right, I'll get the management.' "I said, 'You do that,' and that was it. "
Police are advising anyone who sees suspicious activity to call 911.
