1 injured in police-involved shooting, 2 at large
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Police are searching for two of three subjects involved in an armed carjacking who opened fire on police before bailing out of a vehicle.
The shooting happened just before 6 a.m., Thursday, along 79th Street near Northwest Sixth Court. Investigators said Miami-Dade Police were following the subjects, who were riding in a black Honda Accord, when a brief pursuit ensued. That is when the subjects began firing at officers. Officers returned fire, striking one of the subjects.
The two others bailed out of the vehicle and police set up a perimeter.
Rescue crews transported the injured subject to an area hospital where he is recovering.
Police have shut down 79th Street, just west of Interstate 95, while detectives continue their investigation.
