2 Sweetwater officers relieved of duty
SWEETWATER, Fla. (WSVN) -- Officials have announced two Sweetwater Police officers and a civilian worker have been relieved of duty.
Reports said Detective Octavio Oliu and acting Police Sergeant Reny Garcia have been suspended with pay for alleged misconduct.
In a recent lawsuit filed, a special-needs teacher said Oliu, along with Richard Brenner, a red-light camera reviewer, arrested him outside their jurisdiction.
Sergeant Garcia joined the 24-member Sweetwater Police force in 2006.
Last month, FBI agents arrested the Mayor of Sweetwater, Manuel Marono. He was charged, along with two others for their alleged roles in a scheme to fleece the U.S. Government of community grant money.
