Training day for local SWAT team
PORT EVERGLADES, Fla. (WSVN) -- Broward Sheriff's Office's SWAT team took part in a training exercise.
They practiced their response to a terrorist attack that involved hostages being taken at the port. Improved explosive devices were also involved in the simulation.
The goal at hand was to be ready should the real thing ever happen. "It's a large-scale type exercise," Captain Eddie Grant, of the Broward Sheriff's Office said. "But living in the day and age that we are in now, we wanted to make it as complex as possible, to challenge and test the responders so that we can be better prepared."
Several other local, state and federal agencies also took part in the more than four-hour exercise.
