Miami-Dade School chief receives education award
MIAMI (WSVN) -- The Miami-Dade Public Schools superintendent received a big honor in Washington, D.C., Thursday night.
Alberto Carvalho received the Hispanic Heritage Foundation's award for education.
The prize honors top Latino leaders in a variety of categories.
Carvalho was among nine honorees at the 26th annual event, including actress Eva Longoria and actress Aimee Garcia.
The superintendent was praised for achievements in one of the largest Hispanic-serving school districts in the country.
