Man proposes to girlfriend at Miami airport
MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (WSVN) -- A man proposed to his girlfriend at a South Florida airport, where he says it was 'love at first flight,' and they've been traveling the world ever since.
"She's gonna die when she sees everything put together," said Lauren Newmeyer, the future bride's friend. "She's going to be so happy."
Friends and family gathered at Miami International Airport anxiously awaiting the arrival of Marco Montanez and his girlfriend, Veronica Alard. "The whole family came down from different parts of Florida," said bride-to-be's brother, Enrique Alard.
The bride-to-be had no idea about the special proposal that took months in the making. "She's not expecting it," said Enrique Alard. "She thinks she's winning a round trip airfare to anywhere in the world, so I think she's gonna get quite a bigger surprise."
Airport security made customs agents aware and asked them to escort the couple and help go through with the entire plan. "I'm excited. I've been with him the whole planning stages and just really excited to see my sister happy," said Enrique Alard.
The bride-to-be was handed a key when the couple landed. She was then told she had the winning key for something. "So when she goes in and she opens the key, ta-da! The ring is there," said the groom-to-be's sister, Angie Montanez.
That's when Marcos Montanez got on one knee. Veronica Alard opened the box, saw the ring and Marcos Montanez did not even have to ask the question.
Shortly after, a Mariachi band played the couple's favorite Carlos Vivez song and Veronica Alard had one short but very sweet message to her now fiancé. "I love you," she said.
