Daycare receives new AC units from Good Samaritans
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Good Samaritans have come forward to help out a local daycare after their AC units were reported stolen.
Juanita Walker, the owner of Sheyes of Miami Learning Center, said the daycare has been targeted at least three times in the last eight months. When she arrived to work Monday morning, she was shocked to discover the units gone. "We get here this morning to open and everything is gone. Both units are gone. The coverings for the AC units are open," said Walker.
Thanks to Good Samaritans, however, the Sheyes of Miami Learning received brand new units from two local air conditioning companies. "Oh, God, it means everything to us," Walker said. "We're back in business, back rolling. We can bring our babies back in."
Two local companies donated air conditioning units to get the business back up and running. One of the men who pitched in is a father himself. "What they did is really unfair," Dunaikis Roche of Nike Air Conditioning Corp. said. "I'm in the business, and I know what's involved and what it takes and how much money this costs, so I decided to help out."
After hours of installation, cool relief for the learning center. "We can bring the family back together," Walker said. "We can do what we do best, and that's nurture and take care of our children within the inner city, and we love it."
Walker said she plans to re-open the daycare Wednesday.
The thieves who stole the AC units in the first place remain at large and Walker still wants them found.
