Local beauty school students give free hugs
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Students and staff at a local cosmetology school are hitting the streets to spread a little love throughout South Florida Tuesday.
Author and psychotherapist Virginia Satir once said we need four hugs a day for survival, eight hugs a day for maintenance and 12 hugs a day for growth. Those who attend the Paul Mitchell beauty school in Miami are making sure South Florida residents meet their quota for the day.
Students and employees dressed in their signature black outfits and carrying signs reading "Free Hugs" gathered outside the Government Center in Miami to give out hugs.
Night school students will be "hugging it out" at Florida International University, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. They will head toward plazas, parks and other popular spots.
This year marks the fifth annual Paul Mitchell Schools' Free Hugs Day.
