Spirit Airlines shares expansion plans
MIRAMAR, Fla. (WSVN) -- Spirit Airlines is announcing some high-flying plans for expanding within South Florida.
The airline company has renewed its lease at its Miramar headquarters. Spirit also plans on expanding operations into an additional 15,000 square-foot office at the Miramar Park of Commerce.
Spirit CEO Ben Baldanza said, "We're really excited about it. It's great news for South Florida. It's great news for our company, and it just means growth and more jobs."
Andy Ansin, vice-president of Sunbeam Properties, said, "Typically, in light of all that obstruction in the aviation industry, as we all know, many of the airlines have gone out of business. In the meantime, Spirit's been growing, expanding and doing very well. Congratulations to them, and we think it's a great thing for the community as a whole."
Miramar Park of Commerce is owned by Edmund Ansin, who also owns Channel 7.
Spirit is the number two carrier at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
