Deputy forced to fire on dog
WEST PARK, Fla. (WSVN) -- A Broward Sheriff's deputy said he was forced to fire on a family pet after, he said, it charged at him.
The deputy was following up on a burglary call in West Park, along Southwest 30th Street near 40th Avenue.
A resident opened the door and everything seemed fine. That's when the deputy said two dogs charged at him, and fearing for his safety, he opened fire. "The police came to us with some paperwork about a robbery that happened at the house a couple weeks ago," said the son of the dog's owner. "They felt threatened by the puppy, and they shot the puppy. It just turned a year old."
A bullet struck one of the dogs. The injured canine was taken to an animal hospital, where it was later euthanized.
