New Wal-Mart in Goulds creates over 300 jobs
GOULDS, Fla. (WSVN) -- A Miami-Dade community now has a new place to shop for their essentials, but the best part is that now hundreds of people have new jobs.
The new Wal-Mart in Goulds opened its doors to the public for the first time on Wednesday, bringing in over 300 new jobs to the community. "It's been a long time since I had a job," said Wal-Mart employee Latonya Bell. "Being able to work for Wal-Mart is like a blessing for me."
The retail giant hosted a grand opening event with local organizations and District Commissioner Dennis Moss. "What we need to do as a community is to make this Wal-Mart in Goulds Florida one of the highest producing Wal-Marts of its size anywhere in this state," said Moss.
Store Manager Eric Burgains said, "It's an awesome experience to be able open and finally get these doors open to our community and to our customers and to live up to our mission and save people money, so people can live better."
Customers say having a Wal-Mart nearby is like music to their ears. "The prices and the supermarket is great. We love shopping at Wal-Mart, and at least we have a shopping center close to our home," said a customer.
Several organizations, including Zoo Miami, were presented with checks at today's grand opening.
