Good Samaritan confronts gunman in attempted robbery
MIAMI (WSVN) -- A Good Samaritan fought back against a man who targeted a South Florida market and shot a customer before fleeing the scene, officials said.
Armando Safi, the owner of Los Amigos Mini Market, located at 1294 NW 54 St., said a customer was helping him install glass outside the business around noon Sunday when shots rang out. The bullets hit the customer in the leg and finger.
Safi said a Good Samaritan intervened. "Another guy came from behind, hit the guy with the gun in his head, so the guy flee," he said.
The victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital and is expected to be OK.
The incident is the second time in less than two weeks that the market has been robbed. Alleged thieves walked away from the business with money on Sept. 27.
The suspect in Sunday's incident remains on the loose. Police said the subject stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. They added he might have been wearing a mask.
