Taxi driver killed, 4 injured in collision
DANIA BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A deadly crash involving a taxi and a pickup truck shut down a major road for hours Monday morning.
"If you look at any images of the accident, you can tell that is was a very hard impact," said Broward Sheriff's Office spokesperson Keyla Concepcion.
The accident happened at about 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of Sheridan Street and Federal Highway. Investigators said the pickup truck collided with the taxi cab, sending the cab into a barrier. "The pickup was heading westbound on Sheridan, and a taxi with a male and female occupant was driving southbound on Federal and they collided in the middle of the intersection," said Concepcion.
The driver of the taxi cab died.
The male and female passenger in the cab and a male and female passenger in the pickup truck were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital. "We don't know their conditions, but if you look at the images of this accident, you can tell they're very lucky to be alive this morning," said Concepcion.
Police are still investigating.
