Police release photographs of alleged rapist
SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (WSVN) -- Police have released photographs believed to be of a man accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman at a South Florida hotel after picking her up at a local bus stop and telling her he would give her a job.
According to police, on Aug. 1, around 11:30 a.m., a female was waiting for the bus near Southwest 137th Avenue and 26th Street in Southwest Miami-Dade, when a man approached her and offered her employment.
"It was broad daylight, and that's what concerns us the most about this individual, that this incident did take place at 11:30 in the a.m," Miami-Dade Police Detective Robin Pinkard said.
The man then lured the woman into his dark-colored mini van, drove her to La Fuente Hotel along Southwest Eighth Street and 74th Avenue, where he allegedly raped her.
Residents of the Southwest Miami-Dade neighborhood are shocked by the young woman's actions. "Wow, that is a mistake. You can't do that. You cannot get in a stranger's car," said Mervy Gil speaking in Spanish through a translator.
The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male in his mid 30s, with a medium build and short brown hair. He is believed to weigh about 160 pounds and stand about five feet and five inches tall. He was last seen wearing a green polo shirt and blue jean pants.
