Child protective official under arrest
MIAMI (WSVN) -- A child protective investigator has been charged with falsifying records.
Authorities charged 57-year-old Sandra Marti Tuesday with multiple cases of falsifying reports where she claimed she was keeping close tabs on her cases. However, the Broward Sheriff's Office said, that was not happening.
Instead, she would ask children to submit cellphone photos of themselves in the place of having face-to-face visits. Police said Marti would then file reports stating she had checked on the children in person.
BSO Spokesperson Keyla Concepcion said, "A public employee is to perform their duties as they are supposed to. Obviously in this case she was not just negligent but careless and luckily none of the children were hurt."
According to BSO, a total of five children were affected, between December 2011 and June 2012.
Marti has since posted bail.
