Carjacker arrested after police pursuit, 1 at large
MIAMI (WSVN) -- A police pursuit that stemmed from an armed carjacking has ended with one subject in custody. A second subject remains at large.
The armed carjacking took place near the 500 block of Northwest 26th Street, just before 6:30 a.m. Friday. Investigators said two men in a black sport utility vehicle stopped and asked a driver for help. That is when the subjects forced the victim out of his car. One of the subjects took off in the victim's white Ford Focus, while the other subject took off in the SUV.
Within minutes, Miami Police spotted the stolen vehicle and tried to get the carjacker to pull over. The carjacker refused and led officers on a chase that ended with the crook crashing into a tree in front of an apartment complex at Northwest Second Court and 13th Street.
Police apprehended the carjacker, but the armed subject who was driving the SUV remains on the loose.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of the armed subject involved in this carjacking, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
