Images of would-be ATM bombers released
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) -- The FBI has released surveillance images of several men suspected of trying to blow open an ATM with a grenade.
That grenade was later found to be inert. Police believe the would-be crooks had tried to shoot the grenade with a gun to set it off but left empty-handed. However, they did not leave authorities without some clear clues: their faces caught by the ATM's security cameras.
Police are looking for at least four suspects who approached the ATM machine at the Wells Fargo bank located along Northwest 27th Avenue, just south of 199th Street, in Miami Gardens, at around 3:50 a.m., Thursday. Police found the grenade on the outside of the ATM, which also had several bullet holes in it. The crooks had also pried off a panel of the ATM with a crowbar.
Officials brought in a bomb squad robot to take the device into a nearby field, where the explosive device was safely contained by the Miami Gardens Police Department.
If you have any idea who any of these suspects are, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
