Man arrested after killing brother over a car
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Deputies continue to investigate after a man allegedly shot then stabbed his younger brother during an argument.
Just before 4 p.m., Broward Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the scene after receiving a call of shots fired in the area of 305 SE Ninth Ave. in Pompano Beach on Tuesday.
According to BSO, 23-year-old Dieuseul Cemerant shot his 21-year-old brother Saint-Ange Cemerant. As both brothers struggled for the gun, Dieuseul got a kitchen knife and stabbed his younger brother. "Two brothers were having an argument. One of the brothers was very heated, very agitated and confronted his brother," said BSO spokesperson Gina Carter.
Friends said the two brothers were arguing over a BMW. They said Dieuseul was angry that his brother took his car in the morning and was unable to go to work.
According to the father, there was not a problem between the two brothers.
Dieuseul ran from the scene but was quickly apprehended by deputies. Saint-Ange was pronounced dead at the scene by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue.
The mother collapsed in grief after police told her the horrific news that her youngest son was murdered by his older brother. "No, no, no, it's not the best time for me," said the mother who did not want to speak on camera.
Both brothers lived at the apartment with their mother.
Detectives continue to investigate. BSO said Dieuseul will likely be charged with first-degree murder.
