Trader Joe's to open in Pinecrest
PINECREST, Fla. (WSVN) -- The popular grocery store Trader Joe's is coming to South Florida.
Store Captain Jodi McCullough said, "We're preparing for our grand opening of Trader Joe's here in Pinecrest."
Trader Joe's employees have been stocking shelves with unique store items that you will not find at the average grocery store, and it's something the store captain is very proud of. "We are a unique neighborhood grocery store," McCullough said. "We carry everything from the exotics to the basics. Eighty percent of our products fall under the Trader Joe's private label, which means no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives."
It's the fifth environmentally friendly grocery chain to open in Florida, and the first to come to our area. Potential shoppers said they are excited about the new addition to the neighborhood. "We are really excited about the opening of the Trader Joe's here," said one resident, "in Miami, right across the street from us."
"I have yet to be to one," said another local. "I hear they're real good at establishing themselves, and they're trying to establish themselves here in Miami, with the good community and support we have here."
From apples to wine, Trader Joe's is looking to create an adventure for your taste buds. "If you try it and don't like it, you can bring it back for a full refund," McCullough said.
The 13,500-square-foot store, located at 9205 S. Dixie Highway in Pinecrest, will be opening on Friday.
People are invited to the grand opening celebration expected to kick off at 8 a.m. Shoppers will be able to enjoy live music, giveaways and food demonstrations throughout the day.
The store will be decorated with several hand-painted murals paying homage to local landmarks, including Pinecrest Gardens, lifeguard towers, South Beach, Matheson Hammock State Park, the Snapper Creek Canal and more.
