Suspended Sweetwater Mayor makes plea in court
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Suspended Sweetwater Mayor Manuel Marono has pleaded not guilty to corruption charges.
Marono was arraigned in federal court Friday morning on a charge of conspiring to commit honest services fraud.
Lobbyist Jorge Forte also pled not guilty in the case. They are accused of illegally receiving cash for official favors and concealing those payments from the public.
Both could face up to five years in prison.
