1 dead, 3 hospitalized in gas station shooting
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Police are searching for the gunmen allegedly responsible for shooting four people at a South Florida gas station, killing one of them and sending the three others to the hospital, officials said.
Surveillance cameras captured the shooting at the Valero Gas Station at 8926 NW 22 Ave. in Northwest Miami-Dade, just before 4 a.m. Saturday.
"One of the persons was my brother," said Sabrina Johnson. "They said he was shot in the arm and the leg."
The footage shows three men wearing white shirts walking up to the window. According to the station's owner, the men were paying for gas. A few seconds later, the video shows one of the men being shot and dropping to the floor. He is then seen trying to crawl under a pickup truck for safety. As he begins to crawl below the vehicle, someone wearing a red bandanna is captured shooting the victim a second time.
"I think it's senseless because you can't go nowhere without ... ending up being shot, killed," said Johnson.
Another camera angle showed one of the victims rolling on the ground in the middle of the gas station after being hit by bullets. Shortly thereafter, the footage shows a man running with a rifle, and moments after the shooting spree is over, the gunmen are seen getting inside a dark-colored sedan and driving off.
Family members now hope anyone with a conscience who might have some information on the shooting will step forward and contact police. "You have to look at it like it was one of your family members [who was shot]," said Johnson.
Rescuers transported the three surviving victims to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Their condition is unknown.
If you recognize the suspects' getaway car or have any information on this shooting, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
