Man claiming bomb possession at MIA faces charges
MIAMI (WSVN) -- An international passenger who claimed he had a bomb at Miami International Airport faced a South Florida judge one day after he was arrested.
Police said Italian citizen Michele Cirella told an airline agent at the Air France counter in MIA that he had an explosive in his possession, Monday afternoon. The area was closed and secured. MIA K-9 units found nothing.
Officials said Cirella told officers, "I was just playing, it was a joke." He was transported to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
On Tuesday, a judge charged Cirella with filing a false report. His bond was set at $7,500.
