Doral Mayor, City Manager argue again during meeting
DORAL, Fla. (WSVN) -- An argument broke out between Doral City Mayor Luigi Boria and City Manager Joe Carollo over who had the right to speak during a council meeting, Monday morning.
The mayor had called the special meeting to discuss advertising for a new chief of staff. It's the third special meeting held recently. "The mayor has the right to call for special meetings every week if he likes," said Doral City Manager Joe Carollo. "I didn't hire or vote for the company that's got the contract that is responsible for the maintenance, the scheduling of inspections. We took care of business when we were informed on Friday."
Doral Mayor Luigi Boria said, "Based on the three hours spent-- this is the public's money-- we have to be really concerned on how we spend public money, but the bottom line is that now we need to move forward. I have no problem getting along with the manager." He added, "I don't have any problem to follow my fellow council members' direction. I am also a very passionate person for the democracy and the justice."
The mayor also discussed the city's trolley service that was partially interrupted during the weekend. Boria's administrative aide Ralph Arza was resigned last Monday amid the tension between the two city leaders.
