Teen gunned down during robbery; police search for killers
WEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Miami-Dade Police are searching for two men responsible for gunning down a teen in cold blood late Monday night.
Investigators said they are looking for two men who wore dark clothes, including hoodies and fled on foot after shooting and killing a 17-year-old. Family members were too distraught to talk on camera, but they said the victim was Erik Bostock. He died a few blocks away form his Sweetwater home.
According to police, the shooting occurred just after 11:30 p.m., along Northwest Fourth Terrace and 112th Avenue. He was with another boy and a girl, both 16, when, according to police, they were approached by the two killers who robbed them. "The subjects demanded property at gunpoint and were able to take some items and some money from the victims," said Miami-Dade Police Detective Rebeca Perez.
Some people said they saw the robbers riding bicycles away from the scene, a spot where many teens hang out at all hours of the night on a regular basis.
One friend of the victim, who was not identified, recalled fun times with Bostock. "I'm going to miss him," he said. "He was one of my best friends. We hung out together at whatever time, at anytime he would come outside to hang out."
Miami-Dade detectives scoured the area for more than five hours in search for a clue that could lead them to the killers.
Residents who live nearby were shocked by the teenager's death. "It's just really sad," said Frank Carlo Hernandez. "It is a shame because this is not something you want to pull up to your house and see. You don't want to hear about some little kid getting shot. It really is sad for the whole family. I feel for them."
Bostock was a high school junior at G. Holmes Braddock Sr. High School.
If you have any information that can help police catch these killers, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
