Police search for hotel burglar
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- The Miami Beach Police Department is searching for a man accused of breaking into hotel rooms and stealing valuable items from guests.
Officials have released surveillance pictures of the man responsible for the high priced heists. "He's very witty, very smart. He dresses like an employee, and you really wouldn't question him," said Officer Deborah Doty of Miami Beach Police.
Authorities said the burglaries started in 2006 at the Catalina Hotel on 17th Street and Collins Avenue. The burglar also hit the Shelley Hotel, the Avalon Hotel and the Dorchester Suites. The thief's most recent hit was on Oct. 12 at the National Hotel.
A couple who were visiting from Sweden said they were not surprised by the burglaries. "I think that hotels should keep better track at who they let in their premises," said tourist Camila Ohlsson.
If you have any information on who this person may be, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
