MIA officials prepare for holiday travel season

MIAMI (WSVN) -- Preparations at Miami International Airport are underway to make this upcoming holiday travel season a little less hectic for travelers.

Transportation Security Administration officials are taking steps to give travelers a quick and convenient experience, so TSA officials are changing the way travelers go through security.

TSA is now offering special designated family and special needs lanes for passengers. The lanes are also available for people traveling with liquid medicines.

The new lanes are supposed to make the traveling experience much quicker, though one traveler thinks otherwise. "No," said Linda Medina, "because with the stroller, you have to fold it up and then put it on the thing and shove it through there and then the bags, and I have to take her shoes off, take her out, walk her through. Then, unfold the stroller and put all the bags back in."

MIA officials have also provided 40 Samsung mobile charging stations where travelers can charge their cellphones for free while waiting for their plane. Travelers are pleased with the new addition. "I am just taking advantage of the fact that I can sit here for three hours and pretend I'm working," said Colin Leslie.
