Mother's home robbed of Christmas gifts
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Miami police are hoping to catch the crooks responsible fore breaking into a home and robbing an innocent mother of Christmas Friday.
According to officials, Debbie Cheremond, a single mother of one, came home after taking her 1-year-old son to daycare, to find thieves had ransacked her house and took all of her Christmas gifts. "All of my baby's Christmas gifts. Everything. His birthday, his Christmas. They even took the ornaments off the Christmas tree. They took everything," Cheremond said.
Thieves used a window to make their way into the home located along Northeast Third Avenue and 78th Street.
Cheremond said her son's birthday is on Monday, and she had gifts for everyone, which she bought with her past two months savings. "A cost of $1500 gone down the drain. I had my sister, my mom, the whole family's Christmas presents underneath the Christmas tree."
According to Cheremond, the robbers stopped at nothing to ruin her holiday. "These people even ate ribs, drunk Gatorade, like this was their own home. I'm even scared to be in my own house," she said in tears
Family members came together to pick up the pieces of what was left of this holiday season. They said they couldn't believe someone would do this so close to Christmas. "Now this is the time of the year where you give, not take, you know, and whoever did this, I just pray for them," said Sabrina Woods, a relative.
If you have any information on this robbery, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
