Cruise ship passenger missing off Mexican coast

MIAMI (WSVN) -- The Coast Guard is searching for a missing cruise ship passenger believed lost at sea.

The woman, identified as 36-year-old Jennifer Feitz, departed from the Port of Miami on Sunday morning for a week-long cruise. She boarded the Norwegian Pearl with her husband. According to Norwegian Cruise Lines, he reported her missing at 3:50 Friday morning.

After crew members searched the ship, the Coast Guard were called. They are currently searching the waters about 15 miles off Cancun, along with Mexican authorities.

NCL released the following statement: "Initial reports indicate the guest may have gone overboard while the ship was at sea, east of Cancun, Mexico. NCL immediately alerted the appropriate authorities, including the United States Coast Guard, and we are in continuous contact with them."

NCL added that the Pearl will continue on its seven-day Western Caribbean cruise and return to Miami, as scheduled, on Sunday. No modifications were made to the itinerary as a result of the accident, they added.
