Police searching for armed bank robber
LAUDERHILL, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are searching for a man who held up a bank with a gun.
Lauderhill police responded to reports of a bank robbery at a Wachovia Bank, located 5899 West Oakland Park Blvd., just before noon Tuesday.
Police said the suspect was armed with an automatic weapon, and he pointed it at a teller, as he demanded cash. Surveillance cameras caught an image of the suspect. "We had a black male, bald head about 6-foot-3, he had dark clothing, come into the bank, brandished a firearm at one of the tellers, demanded some money," said Lauderhill Police Captain Rick Rocco. "The teller gave him some cash, and he left on foot."
Police set up a perimeter and surrounded the bank with guns drawn to be sure the subject was not still in the bank. Authorities then had bank customers and employees exit the bank one by one with their hands up until the bank was cleared of any occupants.
If you recognize the man caught on camera, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
