Neighbor charged for attacking dogs with knife

BISCAYNE PARK, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida man faces charges of animal cruelty after he allegedly attacked his neighbor's dogs with a knife.

Angel, an 18-month-old German shepherd, has at least three serious stab wounds to his body. "They cry," said Francisco Galano, the dogs' owner, who also sheds some tears as he speaks. "They still cry. When I pet them they cry. They know they got hurt."

Article Image"He was stabbed in the back, but they had to do surgery because they wanted to make sure that he wasn't hurt internally," said Beth Galano of Angel's wounds.

Tiger, an 8-month-old boxer endures the same pain-- stab wound after stab wound. "The way he stabbed the dogs was like he wanted to rip his leg off," said Francisco Galano.

On Monday, Biscayne Park Police arrested Jaime Medore and charged him with cruelty to animals. "We received a 911 call to the suspect's house alleging that he was attacked by two vicious dogs," said Biscayne Park Police Capt. Tony Sanchez. "The officers responded to the scene. They conducted a very good and thorough investigation on the scene, and things just didn't add up."

Medore claimed his three dogs were attacked by the German shepherd and the boxer. "This is uncalled for, and there is no justification for it," Sanchez said about the stabbing.

After police saw his dogs had no injuries, they had some questions. "The attack was not by the dogs," Sanchez said. "It was by the suspect upon the dogs."

The Galanos said, three months ago, their dogs did scratch Medore's dogs, but, they said, they never imagined that he would come back with a knife. "You have no feeling to hurt a little animal," said the husband. "What can you do to a human being?"

"You can see Angel with tears, like he was crying," said the wife.

"I don't know. He's like my son, my brother. They're too nice to me, those dogs."

We tried to speak with the suspect, but he didn't want to talk about the incident and added that he has an attorney.

Meanwhile, Tiger and Angel have each other and their owners, and they also have deep cuts. "They take care of me," added Francisco Galano. "They do, believe me. Those dogs are good."
