Police release surveillance of Christmas burglary
NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- At least three suspects climbed on ladders and burglarized a business on Christmas night, police said.
The Broward Sheriff's Office released surveillance video of the burglary Monday, hoping someone can help identify the suspects.
Authorities said, at around 11 p.m. on Dec. 25, at least three men broke through the side wall of the Nature's Food Supermarket at 5150 N. State Road 7. Surveillance cameras captured the suspects as they worked in the darkness, using lights on their helmets, a crowbar and a grinder to break into the business' safe.
The store owner said the men were able to avoid motion detectors, but were caught on the store's 48 security cameras. "The safe is made about five inches thick, which is metal on both sides, and it has concrete in the center. They spent about three hours cutting through the metal, breaking the concrete and basically they made it into the safe," Armando Romero said.
Romero said the safe contained tens of thousands of dollars.
The suspects left behind plenty of damage and took off with the money.
