FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Donors are ponying up to save a South Florida horse ranch.
The Florida Research Institute For Equine Nurturing Development and Safety, or FRIENDS for short, received more than $46,000 to keep it up and running.
FRIENDS takes in and treats horses diagnosed with diseases that would otherwise be put down.
The organization, which relies on contributions, was dealt a heavy financial blow when many people began to pull their funds due to the country's economic crisis.
