MIAMI (AP) -- The Coast Guard has called off the search for three Floridians reported missing by a family member in what a spokeswoman called a "miscommunication."

The boaters left Key Largo on Saturday and were scheduled to arrive in the Bahamas by noon the next day. A family member called authorities when the group never checked in to say they had made it. On board were Charles Millburg of Niceville and his wife Trudy and his sister Martha Hinds of Sanibel Island.

Crews began looking for the 47-foot sailboat on Monday, but by the afternoon, they got word that the family was safe. Petty Officer Jennifer Johnson says the family anchored in Bimini on Sunday night.
