Police search for man accused of indecent exposure
SURFSIDE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police search for a man accused of exposing himself to women and children in broad daylight.
According to officials, the pervert hides in the bushes of a jogging path between Surfside and Bal Harbor. As the women come jogging, they said the man jumps out to grab them and in some cases, he has even performed sexual acts on himself.
"It's ridiculous of doing this type of behavior, it's not telling what else he's capable of doing," said Detective Frank Colonna of Surfside Police.
Surfside is known as a quiet beach town nestled between Bal Harbor and Miami Beach. Officials posted flyers all around town in hopes to catch the pervert. "This people need help, it's not a common behavior. It;s not accepted, it's not the norm," said Colonna.
Officials are investigating if this man is the same man accused of flashing children near an elementary school in Miami Beach. "The distance is very short, so the person could live in the area, he could be traveling back and forth. I've communicated with patrols in the area as to what types of incidents are going on here and what type of settings and we are trying to saturate this area," said Colonna
"You can step back a bit and observe. What I think this person is doing is watching whoever he prefers to watch and then he conducts his crazy behavior," said Colonna
Officials described the subject to be 6 feet tall, muscular build and brown hair. He was last seen wearing black swim shorts, black cap with a red symbol.
If you have any information on this man, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
