Abandoned boat found capsized near shores of local beach

SUNNY ISLES BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Miami-Dade authorities are investigating the scene of an overturned boat near the shores of Sunny Isles Beach Tuesday morning.

Someone discovered the abandoned boat tied to a pier near Northeast 163rd Street and Collins Avenue and called police. The incident caused a frantic and immediate search for possible victims. Miami-Dade Rescue Divers assisted in the search, but officials said they didn't find anyone.

According to a lifeguard, he helped two men tie up the boat Monday because it had engine problems. A cooler and fishing equipment were found washed up ashore.

Officials are investigating what caused the boat to capsize.
