MIAMI (WSVN) -- A Bal Harbour police officer accused of molesting a 7-year-old girl will stay in jail while he awaits trial.

Rene Guillen, a five-year veteran with the city's motorcycle unit, appeared in bond court Friday morning where a judge denied him bond. "I'm sure he needs help if these allegations are true," said Judge Jorge E. Cueto, "but I'm not going to allow bond. There is no bond, sir. I find probable cause for the two counts of this sexual battery. There will be no bond."

Miami-Dade Police's sexual battery unit arrested the 32-year-old Guillen Thursday at his home in South Miami-Dade. Bal Harbour Police said the former Florida Highway Patrol trooper confessed to the crime, and what's worse, officials said, the girl is related to him.

The officer is a married father of three. According to the police report, the incident took place in his daughter's bedroom during a sleep-over while his own daughter was in the room.

Guillen's attorney called this situation difficult for all involved. "There are families involved and whenever there are families and allegations like this, it's very emotional," said Edward Martinez, the suspect's attorney.

The allegations also proved difficult for police to stomach. "First and foremost, it's family. The law enforcement community is a big family, so it hurt all of us," said Bal Harbour Police Department Captain Greg Roye.

According to investigators, the incident reportedly took place in April at Guillen's house, but the girl didn't tell her family until recently. "As law enforcement, we're supposed to serve and protect, and obviously this is a black eye for the law enforcement community," said Roye.

According to the judge's orders, Guillen will only be allowed to see his kids with his wife's supervision. Meanwhile, the Bal Harbour Police chief has suspended Guillen without pay.

Guillen will stay at the Miami-Dade County jail without bond on the charge of sexual battery on a minor under 12. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 18.
