3 arrested in school burglaries

HIALEAH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police have arrested three suspects Wednesday morning after two South Florida elementary schools were broken into overnight.

The officers arrested Simon Alberto Almonte, Jamal Wright and Desiree Rodriguez outside of North Hialeah Elementary School on 42nd Street and East Fifth Avenue. "We caught the individuals on top of the roof," said Miami-Dade Schools Police Sergeant Ivan Silva. "They apprehended them and place them under custody. After they were taken into custody, they were interviewed, at which time they admitted to also having broken into Palm Springs Elementary."

According to Miami-Dade Schools Police, the three suspects stole thousands of dollars worth of computer equipment and musical equipment from the schools.

The three suspects are facing several charges.
