Workers paint the word ''scohol'' in school zone

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- After painters misspelled the word "school" on the road, the sign has become the talk of the town, especially for students who attend class nearby.

Students who attend Goulds Elementary School have no problem spelling the word "school," however, whoever painted the word on the pavement spelled the word incorrectly.

Children who are learning to read and write are recommending that whoever painted the misspelled word go back to school.

The parents of the Miami-Dade County students who pass by the misspelling on a state road thinks the mistake underscores the need for education and educators. "They really need the education, because if adults can't get the spelling 'school' right, what do you think it's going to benefit for the kids when they're laying all these teachers off?" Taxgeca Brooks said.

A spokesman from the Department of Transportation said, "Yes, this is a state road, but Miami-Dade County Public Works painted it there with temporary paint."

A spokesman from Miami-Dade Public Works said it was painted there on behalf of Miami-Dade County schools and the misspelled word would be corrected by Friday. Early that morning it was.
