HIALEAH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A man lost his life after he tried moving a downed power off a road Thursday afternoon.

Hialeah Police are investigating the electrocution, which claimed the life of 21-year-old Myles Davis in the area of West 78th Street and Fourth Avenue.

According to police and fire rescue officials, storms moved into the area, which brought heavy winds, rain and lightning. A bolt struck a pole with power lines in the area, which knocked a power line into the roadway. Davis attempted to move the cable off the road when he was electrocuted and killed.

Fire officials rushed to the scene and said the man was still holding on to the pole when they arrived.

FPL had to shut power off in that area, which effected about 600 customers. Power was only shut off for 30 minutes.

Officials said if you see a downed power line do not attempt to move it; instead, call officials right away.
