Officials searching for police impersonator and accomplices
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Authorities are looking for three men who barged into a home and held a mother and daughter at gunpoint, officials said.
Frances Baker was cooking dinner inside her apartment at 101 Northwest Seventh Avenue Thursday night when she told her daughter to close the door. Then, three men armed with guns and wearing ski masks stormed into the apartment. Authorities said one of the subjects was wearing a shirt with the word POLICE across the front.
Officials said the men held Baker and her 11-year-old daughter at gunpoint and demanded money. The men took the few dollars inside Baker's purse and then fled the scene.
One man witnessed the home invasion. "I saw one of them, they had on police gear, and they ran and they were like, 'Get on the ground, get on the ground,' and I heard her scream, and I ran in the house," he said.
Police said the men were seen leaving the scene in a newer model Chevy Impala.
If you have any information on this home invasion, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
