Cat survives long road trip shipped off in moving van
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (WSVN) -- Unsuspecting movers packed up a woman's belongings and drove away, but the movers got quite the surprise when they arrived at their final destination to find her aunt's cat among those items-- more than two weeks later.
The Mann family's 2-year-old cat Snicker somehow found her way among the items packed away in a moving truck headed to Mississippi.
Jennifer Mann had her niece, Brittani Adams, staying with her family while she waited to be moved by the military to her new assignment in Gulfport, Mississippi. On July 21, the moving company hired by the Navy came out to Mann's Broward home, packed up her niece's belongings and left towards Mississippi. "The movers came. My niece and her husband are in the Navy. They left to be stationed in Mississippi. The movers came out. We were at Rapids the day that it happened, and we noticed that the cat was gone," Mann said.
Unbeknown to the family, Snicker somehow stowed away on the truck. Mann immediately went around the neighborhood posting flyers for the missing cat.
Wednesday the movers finally arrived in Mississippi, and the Adams found Snicker inside the truck clinging to a box spring. "She was just laying there. I thought she was dead," said Adams over the phone. "I lifted her claws off the box spring, and she lifted up her head and meowed."
After some food and water, Snicker was back on her feet and chasing a fly around the house. "It's unbelievable that's she's still alive," said Mann, "so the next step is to figure out how to get her back home."
