Driver in supposed stolen car crashes into Hollywood home

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WSVN) -- A driver in what police believe was a stolen vehicle crashed into a home after he lost control of the car Sunday.
Police said the chaos began after the suspect hit a car in the area of 22nd Avenue and Sheridan Street and then fled the scene.
One neighbor said he was outside in his front yard when he saw the incident take place. "I witnessed a car coming off Taft doing about 80 or 90 miles. He got down there by this white truck, and in front of the truck was one of those little funny looking dogs. It ran out in the street, and he swerved to keep from hitting that. He hit a mud spot, hit the boat, hit the truck twice and ended up in the house," said Ronald Wheeler.
The owner of the home heard the loud crash and ran out to see what happened. "I was in the bedroom and I heard this huge crash, and I turned around, man, and I saw daylight coming through the house and there's my truck. The back of my truck went through my house. I said, 'Oh, my God!' I ran outside, and there's this guy in the car, and it's all flipped up," Marese John said.
Both cars sustained significant damage as did the home. "I only got liability on my truck. I'm an electrical contractor. I don't know what I'm going to do now. We could have been dead," said John.
The subject, identified as a 26-year-old male, was taken into custody and transported to Memorial Regional Hospital and is expected to be OK. He now faces a list of charges.
No other injuries were reported, but one of the residents of the home took himself to the hospital to be checked out.
