MIAMI (WSVN) -- Detectives are turning to YouTube in hopes of catching a killer after their friend and former colleague was gunned down.
A decorated retired Miami Police captain, Robert Yee, 61, worked security at a boatyard on the Miami River when he was shot several times in the back of the head in July.
Yee was taken in critical condition to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Homicide detectives setup a complete power point presentation on YouTube. On the video detectives show the description of the killers' car, which is a newer model silver four-door Toyota Corolla with a tag of X50-0IJ and a sketch of the killer, described as a short, white balding man with a goatee.
"Every case for us is extremely important, but this is one of us. This is one of our brothers in blue," said Miami Police spokesperson Kenia Alfonso.
Police are trying absolutely everything they cane to bring closure to his family. Detectives are making a plea to the public by streaming the case on the Internet, hoping that they can get the tip they need.
Yee was in law enforcement for 26 years. He was a father of six.
If you have any information that can help police close this case, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
