Officials: 1 person killed in car crash with train

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A person was killed and another transferred to a hospital after a train collided with their vehicle in South Florida.

The Broward County Sheriff's Office says that two elderly women inside the car when it was struck by a train on Friday.

Authorities said the gates had come down and the vehicle was stopped on the tracks when the collision occurred.

The passenger was pronounced dead on scene. The driver was conscious when transferred to a hospital.
