OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (WSVN) -- A little girl and her mother is speaking out after the 7-year-old was nearly abducted from her bed, while she was sleeping.

On Sept. 13, at around 2:30 a.m., a man broke into a Crystal Lake apartment and tried to kidnap a little girl. "He took me off of my big brother's bed. I felt someone picking me up. He had his had around my mouth," said the unidentified 7-year-old.

The little girl said, after she and her brothers began to scream the man ran out of the house. "He got out through the front door," she said.

The family has since moved from that apartment complex, but the fear remains with them. "I'm trying to get them back into the normal routine to feel safe in their own home, in their own beds, without having to feel that someone is going to come in and try to take them away," said the victim's mother.

The little girl said she often dreams about the incident. "I'm afraid that he's going to take my brothers," said the 7-year-old.

The girl's mother said she feels it is important to let people know about what happened to her family. "I just want people to be aware of what actually went on in that apartment complex, and not to be afraid to say something. If you heard anything, if you see something funny, do not be afraid to speak up and say something," the concerned mother said.

Broward Sheriff's Office detectives distributed fliers with a sketch of the abductor in hopes of getting him off the streets.
