Woman killed at southwest Fla. courthouse

VENICE, Fla. (AP) -- A woman has been fatally shot in the parking lot of a courthouse annex in Venice in southwest Florida.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said the shooting occurred Monday afternoon at the Venice branch of the county courthouse. Her name has not been released.

A sheriff's spokeswoman told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune that the confrontation between the woman and her assailant may have been a domestic situation.
