MIAMI (AP) -- As usual, Art Basel Miami Beach is luring collectors to glamorous South Beach. This year, the annual contemporary art fair also extends to Miami's gritty Little Haiti district.

One of the fair's special exhibitions opens Friday at the new Little Haiti Cultural Center. "The Global Caribbean" exhibit includes paintings, sculpture and other installations by 25 contemporary artists from Cuba, Trinidad, Haiti, the Bahamas and other Caribbean countries.

Curator Edouard Duval-Carrie says the exhibit explores the cultural identity of the Caribbean beyond sunny beaches and folk art pieces sold to tourists.

"The Global Caribbean" remains open through March 30 and then travels to France.

Art Basel Miami Beach concludes Sunday.
