Police search for hit and run driver

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are searching for the driver who left the scene of a deadly accident Sunday night.

The incident occurred northbound on Krome Avenue near Kendall Drive, at 11:30 p.m. Thirty-eight-year-old Clara Baquero De Doy was riding on the back of a motorcycle in the northbound lanes when she fell off. She ended up in the southbound lane, where she was struck and killed by an oncoming car.

The vehicle took off. Police are now searching for a black pickup truck.

Troopers don't know if the driver was aware the truck had hit a person. "Anyone that was in the area along, last night around 11:30, saw anything, maybe the driver of that truck hit something, didn't realize what they hit and is now putting two and two together and may come forward," said Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Alex Annunciato.

It remains unclear what caused the victim to fall off the back of the bike to begin with.
