Police shoot and kill dog

MIAMI (WSVN) -- Police said they shot and killed a dog while they were trying to apprehend a suspect.
According to Miami Police, authorities were conducting an investigation when they jumped through several backyards and someone's pet clamped down on the suspect's leg. This happened at Southwest 14th Street and 57th Avenue, on Wednesday night.
When police caught up to the suspect, the dog lunged at an officer. "The officer tried to save that offender, because the dog took and clamped onto the offender's leg. Now, the officer tried to save that man but the dog turned on him, and in fear for the officer's life, he fired a shot and killed that dog behind this yard here," said Miami Police spokesperson Kenia Reyes.
The man was taken into custody.
